License or registration

The Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) has been in effect since January 2023. Organisations have until December 2024 to comply with the regulations. From January 17, 2025, the rules must be implemented in every organisation.

The AFM expects financial institutions that fall within the scope of DORA to be well underway in the implementation of the new rules by the second half of 2024 and to ensure that the DORA requirements are incorporated into their business operations in a timely manner.

Assessment

From August 1, 2024, the AFM will assess whether the applicant meets the relevant DORA requirements for license applications/registrations of organisations that are covered under DORA. By integrating the DORA requirements into the assessment process from this date, the AFM aims to make the process as efficient as possible and to support institutions that obtain a license in the run-up to January 2025 in complying with the DORA rules in a timely manner.

MiCAR

Crypto asset service providers (CASPs) who apply for a MiCAR license are currently already being assessed against the relevant DORA requirements. For more information about MiCAR permit applications, please visit this web page.
