IOSCO Board, the IOSCO’s policymaking body
The IOSCO Board is the IOSCO’s policymaking body and has 35 members, 19 of which represent the 17 countries with the largest capital markets worldwide. The IOSCO will be focusing on the following issues in 2022-2023: structural resilience of capital markets, data gaps and information sharing, new insights into investor protection, the role of securities markets in capital formation, and financial innovation.
Return after four-year absence
The appointment marks the AFM’s return to the IOSCO Board, which is partly due to the growth of the Dutch capital markets in the wake of Brexit, after an absence of four years. The Board membership fits in with the AFM’s ambition to increase international cooperation in order to address important issues. The IOSCO is the international body where market and conduct regulators for the capital markets share information and experiences with each other and jointly develop global standards and policy initiatives.
