(LSE:SKZ), (“ShalkiyaZinc”) one of the leading zinc and lead mining companies in Kazakhstan, announced today that its 2012 Interim Results are now available on the company's website, www.zinc.kz ShalkiyaZinc N.V. has also filed these documents with the The Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) (accessible through its website at www.afm.nl).
ABOUT SHALKIYAZINC N.V.
Established under the laws of Kazakhstan in April 2001, LLP “ShalkiyaZinc Ltd.” holds the rights to one of the biggest zinc deposits in the world and the largest zinc deposit in Kazakhstan and is engaged in the mining and processing of zinc-lead ore into zinc and lead concentrates. Between February 2004 and November 2008, the Operating Subsidiary produced 97,000 tonnes of zinc concentrate and 27,000 tonnes of lead concentrate.
The main assets of the Operating Subsidiary are as follows:
The Shalkiya Mine: a zinc-lead underground mine in the Kyzylorda region with a current mining capacity of up to 2 mln. tonnes per annum with zinc and lead reserves of 8.2 mln. tonnes and 2.1 mln. tonnes accordingly (as per JORC Code);
The Kentau Plant: a zinc-lead ore processing plant, near the town of Kentau in the Southern Kazakhstan region, 165 kilometres south-east of the Shalkiya Mine, with a current processing capacity of 1.5 mln. tonnes (up to 2 mln.) of ore; and
The Talap Deposit: a zinc-lead ore deposit, 30 kilometres south-west of the Shalkiya Mine, where the Operating Subsidiary has recently completed exploration and is now in the process of designing the development program.
The Group is at the prefeasibility stage of the construction of the New Processing Plant, a modern zinc-lead ore high-capacity processing plant in close proximity to the Shalkiya Mine, with a capacity of 4 mln. tonnes per annum which is intended to be completed by 2016.
