Vimetco NV (LSE: VICO), the global producer of primary and processed aluminium products, today announces its financial results for the 12 months ended 31 December 2011.
Financial highlights
• Sales higher by 18% compared to 2010
• EBITDA of USD 426 million, representing a 34% increase over the 2010 level
• Gross profit of USD 358 million, up from USD 295 million in 2010
• Net loss of USD 75 million, compared to USD 14 million (restated), in 2010
Operational highlights
• The total production of primary aluminium reached 992,000 tonnes in 2011, from 876,000 tonnes, a year before, while the production of processed products reached 150,000 tonnes, up from 138,000 tonnes in 2010, out of which:
o 731,000 tonnes of primary aluminium and 79,000 tonnes of processed aluminium in China
o 261,000 tonnes of primary aluminium and 70,000 tonnes of processed products in Romania
• Focus on research and development, with significant results in energy savings
