Key points of first quarter 2010
• Revenue was € 684 million and was 9% lower than the first quarter
last year (March: -5% year-on-year, based on the same number of
business days)
• The gross margin of 22.1% remained virtually stable with respect to
the previous quarters (Q4 2009: 22.1%, Q3 2009: 21.9%); in the first
quarter of last year the gross margin was 23.6%
• The operating expenses came to € 137 million and remained virtually
stable at the low level of the fourth quarter of 2009 (Q4 2009: € 136
million); costs were 14% lower than the first quarter of last year
• The underlying EBITA came to € 8 million (underlying EBITA Q1
2009: € 11 million)
• The financial position was strengthened by a € 86 million share
issue
