Zeewolde, The Netherlands, 30 March 2007 – Spyker Cars N.V., Formula One constructor and manufacturer of exclusive premium sports cars, has reported its results for the financial year 2006. Total revenue rose substantially from Euro 8 million in 2005 to 36 million in 2006. The most significant financial result was a net profit for the year of Euro 0.8 million, the first net profit reported by the company since it was founded in 2000.
Production increased from 48 in 2005 to 94 in 2006, a rise of 96% and a continuation of the recent history of increasing production each year. Development work continued on the D12 Peking-to-Paris Super Sports Utility Vehicle which will enter production in late 2007.
Spyker’s motor-sport involvement was further developed during 2006 with continued success in the GT2 sports car championship and with the September purchase of the Midland Formula One team. This has subsequently been renamed for the 2007 Formula One season as the Etihad Aldar Spyker Formula One Team.
